New spaces, new flow, new opportunities

August 2023

We’re so excited to announce that bookings are now open for three new spaces at {10-11} Carlton House Terrace. The rooms have been created in unused or underutilised areas within the lower ground floor of our London events venue as part of a £9.6million regeneration project, headed up by Wright & Wright Architects. These spaces are now open for bookings for events held during or after June 2024.

The three, double-height, double-glazed rooms have been thoughtfully designed and constructed to give organisers cutting edge, contemporary facilities in a Grade I listed setting. As well as being sympathetically designed with our Georgian roots in mind, the spaces’ low energy heating system is entirely carbon-free in keeping with our business’ commitment to sustainability.

Guests will reach the three new spaces from the ground floor via a lift and steps which sit on the site of an original Nash staircase. As well as creating more event space to better serve our clients’ growing needs, another goal of the renovation project was to create improved flow and continuity through our historic building, an ambition realised in part by the large windows by the new staircase which offer guests a stunning view over the new Mall Room below.

The Mall Room can be booked as a separate space or in conjunction with its adjoining neighbours, the SHAPE Room and the Lecture Room. All three of our new spaces are flooded with natural light, thanks to the innovative lightwells which wrap round the building. Each of the rooms has been purpose-built for conferences, launches, media presentations and fashion and art shows with features including two, huge, inbuilt LED screens, air conditioning and no pillars. The SHAPE Room also has a dedicated green room with direct access into the space and a separate entrance into the corridor.

On the ground floor of {10-11} Carlton House Terrace, there are two rooms which can be incorporated into a large conference, exhibition or event on the lower ground floor. The Reading Room and The Library, as their names might suggest, are full of books, beautifully presented in traditionally-designed bookcases. All of the books in these two rooms are all about the social sciences and written by fellows of the British Academy or academics sponsored by the association. The spaces can be used individually or as one and are kitted out with the latest AV equipment which makes them a perfect choice for hybrid seminars or presentations. The stunning aesthetics of the rooms also makes them a popular choice for networking sessions or refreshment breaks.

For clients who want to combine their conference or launch with a dinner or drinks party, moving guests up to our beautiful suites on the first floor is an easy transition. The Council Room, Music Room, Radhakrishnan Room, Barnard Room and Beatrice Webb Room and Gallery each has its own stunning period features and unique charms. Examples of this include ornate plasterwork depicting musical instruments, huge chandeliers, floor to ceiling windows boasting stunning views over our private garden and brilliantly varnished floors.

Guests will discover the rooms on our first floor after having ascended one of {10-11} Carlton House Terrace’s most striking features - its wide, deep-stepped, marbled staircase which leads up from a beautiful and spacious reception and waiting area. We never tire from welcoming first-time visitors to our London events venue as we can always be sure that their first impression will be one of awe. We also love receiving regular clients who are familiar with our building and its spaces and who are re-booking for their next event, keen to share our building with new and regular attendees.

In the summer months, clients wishing to make the most of the sunshine, can take the option to host some or all of their event in {10-11} Carlton House Terrace’s private garden. Beautifully kept, private hire outdoor space is a rarity in the St James area. We feel it can add a very special something to a corporate London event by giving your guests the chance to relax and unwind surrounded by beautiful plants, trees and flowers without having to travel outside the capital.

Opening up the spaces at {10-11} Carlton House Terrace has not only given us more floorspace in which our clients can host their guests, but it has created a truly flexible London event venue. Whatever your schedule requires, and however many elements your function might have, we will have a selection of rooms which from which you can choose. Organisers are offered the chance to book individual rooms, whole floors or even to have exclusive use of the entire building and its outside space for their event.
