Case Study – Energy Transition in Libya Conference
December 2025
The Libyan British Business Council were looking for a venue to host their full-day conference for 90 guests, and we were thrilled to hear they chose our new Lower Ground Floor spaces, the SHAPE Room and Wohl Gallery.
The Libyan British Business Council (LBBC) is a Membership association which aims to promote and improve bilateral trade and business relations between the UK and Libya. They hold regular workshops, receptions and conferences in London that are attended by key trade representatives and industry leaders to explore partnership opportunities and gain insights into market trends.
We spoke to Susie Davies, Business Manager at LBBC, about what led them to choose {10-11} Carlton House Terrace for their Energy Transition in Libya Conference, and the ways in which we were able to support their event through our facilities and accessibility features.
Strong technical capabilities and sustainability commitments were a priority for Susie when choosing a venue, as they wanted their event to be fully digital and align with the organisation’s mission.
“We needed a central London venue that was easy for delegates to find and could accommodate up to 100 people. Crucially, we wanted a location with the technical capabilities to deliver a fully digital, paperless event that would be interactive and engaging without relying on printed materials. {10–11} Carlton House Terrace met all these requirements perfectly.”
The key objectives of the conference were to create an event that was professional yet relaxed and effectively showcase the renewable energy work being done in Libya. When asked how our venue helped support these aims, Susie said: “The venue's exceptional AV facilities – particularly the wrap-around screen in the Shape Room and digital signage capabilities – allowed us to present complex information in multiple languages in a visually impressive and accessible way. The overall atmosphere of the venue, combined with the technical support, helped us achieve exactly the tone we wanted: serious and professional, but also welcoming and engaging.”
Our team of event professionals know the venue inside out, so when you book your event with us, you know you’ll be in safe hands! Here’s how Susie found our team’s communication and customer service throughout the planning service: “Exceptional. Mia's event management was outstanding – clear, responsive and incredibly accommodating from the initial planning stages through to the event day. Mattias worked closely with us beforehand to help us understand what we could achieve technically, which meant we arrived fully prepared and confident. The team's flexibility was particularly evident when we made a last-minute request to record the event, which they handled seamlessly. Every interaction was professional, friendly and solution-focused.”
We strive to support the needs of all of our visitors during their visit to {10-11} Carlton House Terrace. When asked whether our venue’s technical facilities, accessibility features and translation support met the needs of their delegates, Susie said: “The technical facilities exceeded our expectations in every way. We were able to present videos and slides in two languages with simultaneous translation services provided by Rob at DNA Visuals. The translators were comfortably housed in the Green Room, and the setup looked and functioned professionally. We had numerous speakers with varying presentation formats – videos, slides and more – and following the AV guidelines and processes Mattias established meant everything worked brilliantly. The digital signage, wrap-around screens, and overall AV package would typically cost £20,000+ to arrange at other venues. These technical capabilities are essential for our international conferences where we have multilingual delegates and need to present complex technical information clearly and professionally.”
As part of the recent transformation of our lower-ground floor, our three new event spaces were equipped with top-of-the-range technical facilities to support a range of events. We asked Susie how the onsite team performed on the day, and she said: “The entire team was outstanding. Greg showed us the capabilities of what is genuinely the most advanced AV equipment we've encountered at any London venue. Mattias was present throughout the day, managing lighting, microphones, announcements and music, ensuring seamless transitions between speakers and maintaining the professional yet relaxed atmosphere we wanted. The whole staff was happy, accommodating, friendly and kind – they made the entire experience fantastic. The catering was excellent, and every aspect of attendee support ran smoothly.”
From low energy bulbs to recycled products and water management systems, we are fully committed to reducing our impact on the environment and becoming more sustainable. When asked how our approach to sustainability aligns with the themes of the conference and why sustainability is essential to LBBC’s events, Susie said: “Sustainability is absolutely central to our organisation's mission and was a core theme of the conference itself. The venue's technical capabilities allowed us to deliver a completely paperless event – no marketing materials, no printed programmes or handouts, with everything presented digitally. We were also able to invite guests and speakers to attend virtually, reducing travel-related carbon emissions. Having a venue that can support our sustainability goals through its infrastructure is essential, as we need to practice what we advocate for in the renewable energy sector.”
When you’re holding regular events like LBBC are, post-event feedback from attendees is crucial to ensure your future events meet guest expectations and identify any areas for improvement. We asked Susie what feedback they received from attendees, and she said: “The feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with particular praise for the professional presentation, the clarity of the multilingual content delivery, and the overall atmosphere. Having organised conferences across London for years, we can confidently say that 10–11 Carlton House Terrace is the best venue we've ever used.”
Lastly, we asked Susie whether LBBC would consider returning for future events and were delighted to hear that they are already planning to return! “We are absolutely planning to return – in fact, we're already discussing using the venue for future London conferences of around 100 attendees, and next time we intend to take advantage of the live streaming capabilities to broadcast in two languages. This will be our venue of choice going forward.”
