Although many of the original architectural features remain, visitors to the Academy are often surprised by the rich and varied art display. The British Academy is proud to be the custodian of a rich and varied collection of art. The display of over 100 works include paintings, ceramics, prints, textiles and sculpture.
Traditional oils and bronzes complement the historic building, while contemporary art by British artists asserts the modernity of the Academy and venue’s forward-looking outlook. The collection ranges from full length oil portraits of Lord Nelson and Edward VII to more contemporary pieces by artists such as Terry Frost, Carol Robertson and Patrick Hughes.
