Our stunning London photoshoot location
February 2024
Getting the right location for a photoshoot can make the difference between good pictures, and truly brilliant ones. As any location manager will know, there are several ‘must-haves’ on any photographer’s wish list - plus a whole lot of ‘would-likes’. We’re often told by the photographers who use our historic building for their photoshoots, that the spaces at {10-11} Carlton House Terrace tick all of their boxes.
If you’re looking for a central London photoshoot location, then take a moment to read through our feature, outlining all the reasons that make our beautiful, Grade I listed, Georgian townhouse the perfect place in which to shoot product launches, magazine spreads and portraits.
Variety
There are 11 rooms for hire at {10-11} Carlton House Terrace, each with its own unique style and décor. These range from the beautiful Music Room, with its delicate, period plasterwork, central fireplace and soft cream walls to the grand Council Room which boasts traditional portraits, huge chandeliers and gold detailing. We’ve also just opened up bookings for our newly created, ultra-modern spaces on the lower ground floor. This range of settings allows for multiple set ups throughout the day – should your shoot require it - with easy flow for your team between rooms.
Natural light
All of our traditional spaces are flooded with natural light. The huge, original windows feature on all sides of the building, giving photographers the option of choosing the sunlight direction that would best shoot their style. If you favour south-facing, you might want to consider either the Wolfson Room, Radhakrishnan Room, Reading Room or Library. The north-facing rooms at {10-11} Carlton House Terrace are the Council Room and Music Room and we have one west-facing space, the Webb Room. It's also worth mentioning that all of the windows have blinds, so you can create your own lighting should you need to. If you want to make the most of the unique shooting opportunities of the ‘golden hour’ or day break, we can arrange special access to the building during these times.
Location
Our beautiful building is situated in the heart of Westminster, overlooking The Mall and St James’s Park. We’re surrounded by iconic London landmarks including The Duke of York monument and Trafalgar Square and many of our rooms enjoy unrivalled views across the capital.
As well as the aesthetic benefits of our exclusive location, our clients and visitors can also make the most of the convenience of our situation. Charing Cross, Piccadilly and Embankment stations are all just a few minutes’-walk away and buses run every minute from Trafalgar Square to all across London. And as anyone who’s ever organised a photoshoot knows, choosing an easy to get to venue makes life easier for the whole team.
Props and features
If you’re looking for some statement features or backgrounds, we have options a-plenty. From highly-detailed, gold plasterwork and balconies with grand pillars to our large marble staircase and huge period mirrors, there are numerous and varied settings to complement your shoot. Staff
Our onsite team is friendly and professional, but above all, they’re accommodating. They understand that things rarely go exactly to plan and will do our very best to help in whatever way they can so you can get the shots you need.
Space to spare
Your photoshoot might feature just one model, or a handful of different products, but we appreciate that behind the scenes there’s a whole team of people, and that these individuals need to have their own space in which to do their jobs. To give you an idea of the size of our building, our rooms host parties for 60-200 people so you can rest assured there’s more than enough space for each member of your team to have some leg room and for you to get some distance from your subject while you shoot. There’s also ample room for your lighting equipment, tripods and our in-house catering.
Accessibility
You can drive right up to the front of our building to drop off any equipment, props or furniture and you’ll find on-street parking directly outside or in the council car park nearby.

We’re also an ideal location for filming, the building having appeared in the BBC’s Sherlock Holmes, Hollywood film James Bond, No Time to Die and Netflix’s The Crown to name but a few.
