Case Study - The afterparty venue of choice for Alzheimer’s Research UK

February 2023

It’s no secret that we love hosting events for a variety of organisations and individuals. As a team and venue, we pride ourselves on our ability to adapt our offering, making {10-11} Carlton House Terrace the perfect venue for a variety of event types.

As well as being a part of the rich cultural heritage London has to offer, we particularly relish the opportunity to be key contributors to charitable causes - which is why when Alzheimer’s Research UK reached out to us to host their Marathon after-party, not one; but TWO years in a row - we were quite simply…. delighted!

The London Marathon is the 2nd largest fundraising endurance race in the UK, and it attracts huge numbers of participants, as well as spectators. {10-11} Carlton House Terrace was used as a rest and viewing hub for families of the runners and a respite hub /after-party location for the runners upon completion of the 26.2 miles.

We spoke to Malwina Soltys, Alzheimer’s Research UK's Events Officer about why they chose {10-11} Carlton House Terrace two years in a row and their experience of working with our team.

Our central London location, along with our choice of stunning spaces makes us an ideal venue for events where a range of activities will take place over the course of a single event.

“The venue is in a great central location and it’s a short distance away from St. James’s Park….after our first event at {10-11} Carlton House Terrace; it was a no-brainer that we would use the venue again, not only for our marathon events but for other events too!”

{10-11} Carlton House Terrace provides highly attractive surroundings for events that are demure, yet impressive, however, as a team, we know that ultimately the way our clients experience working with our team is as important as the venue itself. We value our clients’ views, so we frequently ask for feedback - we believe that the ‘E’ in Event Professional stands for experience; and that it should always be a positive one.

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Amie on three events now; she understands that every event is unique. She genuinely cares about the success of the event & I love that she & the team are flexible, and always find solutions to any issues that may arise. Amie and her colleagues respond quickly to our queries and are happy to have meetings over the phone or in person”.

We recognise that attending to our clients is important during the planning stages, as well as during the event itself. We believe consistent communication, and responsiveness are key to hosting exceptional events, as well as building positive relations with our clients and guests. Malwina commented; “The team at 10-11 was just superb! They are friendly, and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. They understood our guests’ needs and went above and beyond to accommodate them”.

After the marathon, runners and spectators alike were understandably famished and in need of a delicious meal and hydration - to say the least! We take our catering seriously, hence working with our appointed caterers, the world-renowned Searcys, who were on hand to provide relief! Alzheimer’s Research UK and their supporters were very pleased with the service they received and commented, “...from the initial inquiries to the event, the Searcys team was great. Their chefs created a special menu for our runners, that was delicious and full of protein and other nutrients … The serving staff were friendly and worked tirelessly to keep the tables clean throughout the day”.

As a team, we know no two events are the same. We work with several organisations on an ongoing basis, however, there are always circumstances, technology, and needs that will change for each event - making our team’s adaptability one of our most important traits. Striving for excellence is an integral part of our value system as a team, and we aim to demonstrate this to our clients as a standard part of our offering. We can fulfil your event brief as is, however, we also seek to provide added value by providing suggestions and solutions where needed.

“I appreciate the support the team provided when we were setting up early in the morning. They provided solutions and were able to troubleshoot on the spot. They worked with us to ensure we were satisfied with every aspect before our guests arrived.”

We know how important it was to Alzheimer's Research UK that their guests receive the best experience possible, as their work raises valuable funds for their charity - they wanted to make sure each guest felt appreciated and valued by how they were received and what they experienced during the event.

“The feedback from our guests is always positive. Guests complemented the interiors, great atmosphere and good food.”

The care we show our clients, before and during an event is crucial yet after-care is equally important. We very much pride ourselves on providing a service and venue that guests will want to come back to and experience again and again. We find our clients enjoy having a venue and team that they are consistently able to return to, guaranteeing their events run seamlessly and wow their guests.

“We would definitely hold another event with {10-11} Carlton House Terrace; for as long as the venue is happy to have us!”

We're equally delighted to be hosting Alzheimer's Research UK for their London Marathon afterparty for another two years - and look forward to seeing them again in both 2023 and 2024!
